Ruth 2:5-9. Week 7
Day 1 – Whose is this?
Ask the Author to open your eyes to Him:

Ruth 2:5
“Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, “Whose young woman is this?” What do you think Boaz noticed in Ruth?

For what would you like to be noticed?

How would people answer , “Whose young woman is this?” about you?

Ezekiel 16:8
“When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord God.” How is this true for you?

How does your soul respond when you hear Him declare you Mine?

Is there any thought, emotion, fear, situation that threatens your peace?

Isaiah 51:22-23
“Thus says your Lord, the Lord and your God,
Who pleads the cause of His people:
“ See, I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling,
The dregs of the cup of My fury; you shall no longer drink it. But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to you, ‘Lie down, that we may walk over you. ’
And you have laid your body like the ground,
And as the street, for those who walk over.”
What is the Lord speaking to you?

John 10:28-29
“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” Respond in belief:

Day 2 – under authority
John 10:28-29
“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” Start by declaring that you are His:

Ruth 2:6
“So the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered and said, “It is the young Moabite woman who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.” Not knowing her name, what did the servant in charge know about Ruth?

What do you associate with the word “authority”?

Who is in authority in your life?

What do they know about you?

What would you like them to know or not know?

How is your relationship with them?

Are you in a position of authority?

Genesis 39:4-5
“So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field.”
As Ruth hoped (Ruth 2:2), Joseph found “favor in his sight” of his authority in a foreign land. Does this in any way translate to your life?

Colossians 3:22-24
“Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men- pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” What does it mean to you that you don’t work for men, but for the Lord Jesus?

If your earthly authority ever conflicts with God’s your allegiance is clear: “We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
Galatians 5:1
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Your response:

Amen.
Day 3 – glory
Connect with your Maker:

Ruth 2:7
“And she said, ‘ Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves. ’ So she came and has continued from morning until now, though she rested a little in the house.” What did Ruth ask?

What did Ruth do?

What prayer is on your heart now:

What is He showing you to do?

Matthew 5:16
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” What emotions does this verse stir in you?

When do you feel most alive?

Being honest with yourself, how much do you seek glory/ approval for yourself?

What is the difference between seeking His glory and our own?

Why does it matter?

Proverbs 29:25
“The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”. How is this true:

How does it relate to you:

Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Day 4: listen, my daughter
Open your heart to Him:

Ruth 2:8
“Then Boaz said to Ruth, “You will listen, my daughter, will you not? Do not go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay close by my young women.” Describe Boaz’ tone towards Ruth:

Why do you think he appealed to her like this?

What did he hope to achieve?

Why?

Describe God’s tone to you, as you generally perceive it:

Isaiah 1:18
“ Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Why do you think He appeals like this?

What does this mean to you today?

Psalms 103:12-14
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”
In case the word “pities” feels strange to you, it means “loves deeply, has mercy , compassion, tender affections.” Read the verse again and respond to Him:

As Boaz affectionately address Ruth my daughter, so your Father addresses you: Psalms 45:10-11
“Listen, O daughter, consider and incline your ear;
Forget your own people also, and your father’s house;
So the King will greatly desire your beauty;
Because He is your Lord, worship Him.”
The second line in this verse refers to priority. Love the Lord above your culture and your family. Is that a conflict for you?

Mark 3:35
“For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.” 1 John 3:1
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” Your response:

Day 5 – protection and provision
Invite His voice:

Ruth 2:9
“Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Have I not commanded the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn.” What most strikes you from this verse?

Why?

“Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them…” Why do you think he didn’t just give her grain and send her home?

2 Thessalonians 3:10-11
“For even when we were with you, we commanded you this:If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.” What is the connection between work and being a busybody?

What is a busybody?

Why does the Bible warn against this trap?

John 9:4
“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” What is your relationship with work?

“Have I not commanded the young men not to touch you?” (Ruth 2:9) Do you trust His protection?

What is the connection between this protection and his command in Ruth 2:8: “You stay close by my young women.”

Are you in any way stepping out of His protective boundaries?

“And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn.” (Ruth 2:9) What are you thirsty for right now?
