Ruth 2:1; Week 5

This entire week, we will mine the treasures found in this one verse: Ruth 2:1
“There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.” Day 1:
Scholars agree that Boaz is a type of Jesus, and we will approach him as such. Invite Him to show you more of Who He is:

Look at the relational words in this verse: relative, husband, family. What does this show you about Jesus:

How do you long to relate to Him today?

Hosea 2:16
“And it shall be, in that day,” says the Lord,
“ That you will call Me ‘My Husband, ’ and no longer call Me ‘My Master, ’
Can you hear the longing in His voice? What do you think the Lord is longing for?

Hosea 2:19-20
“I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy;
I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord.” Tell Him about your own longings:

Perhaps you long for His protection, to be allowed to be child with a safe Parent? 2 Corinthians 6:18
“I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”
Deuteronomy 1:30-31
“The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place. ’” Give Him all the burdens that weigh you down, and let Him carry them:

Then meditate on this till His joy sings in you:

“As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So shall your God rejoice over you.”

Day 2:
Ruth 2:1
There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz. Tell Him what this verse stirs in you:

Do you wish you had a relative of great wealth? You do!

Psalms 84:11
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Some may say, “I appreciate the grace and the glory, but I need money for rent!” Ask Him:

John 15:7
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Both these verses have a condition. What are they?

Why do you think God places conditions on these promises?

2 Corinthians 9:10
“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness” To whom does God supply seed?
What kind of fruit does He want to increase?
What does that mean to you today?

Malachi 3:10-12
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;
“And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of hosts.”

“ Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘ What shall we eat? ’ or ‘ What shall we drink? ’ or ‘ What shall we wear? ’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” What does it say about your heavenly Father, your relative of great wealth?

What does it say about His provision?

How can you seek His Kingdom today?

Day 3:
Ruth 2:1
“There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.”
Look at the translation of the Hebrew word for wealth: “strength, might, efficiency, wealth, army.” Tell Him where you need these today:

Feast on Psalm 20, a prayer for you from the Living Word:
Psalms 20:1-2
“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble;
May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
May He send you help from the sanctuary,
And strengthen you out of Zion”
Do you believe that He will?
Psalms 20:3
May He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Are you aware that every gesture of love towards Him is precious to Him?

Mark 9:41
“For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” Psalm 20:4
“May He grant you according to your heart ‘s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. What is your heart’s desire:”

Without censoring yourself, dream freely about all your purpose:

“We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.” Thank Him for what He has saved you from:

Day 4:
Invite the Lord to do whatever He desires in you:

Based on the meanings of Boaz’ great wealth, “strength, might, efficiency, wealth, army,” we continue the meditation from Psalm 20. Psalms 20:6
“Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;
He will answer him from His holy heaven
With the saving strength of His right hand.”
To be anointed is to be set apart for His purpose. How is this true for you:

Where or for whom do you pray for His saving strength:

Psalms 20:7
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
Into what may you be tempted to place trust:

What is He whispering to you now:

What does it mean to remember the name of the Lord our God?

One more parallel between our Lord and Boaz, the man of great wealth, and the meanings of that wealth: strength, might, efficiency, wealth, army: Exodus 15:3
“The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is His name.”
Remember, the war is for you. Where do you need Him to fight for you today:

Exodus 33:19
“Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” Lest the enemy whispers that He wouldn’t choose you, listen: Psalms 145:8-9
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Pray for whomever comes to mind now:

1 Chronicles 17:24
“So let it be established, that Your name may be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, is (insert your name) ‘sGod. ’ And let the house of Your servant ( insert your name ) be established before You.” Day 5:
Tell Him how you are doing today:

“There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.”
Outside the Book of Ruth, the name Boaz shows up in the genealogy of Jesus (which we will study later ) and, intriguingly, in Solomon’s magnificent temple for God’s Name. 2 Chronicles 2:4a
“Behold, I am building a temple for the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to Him, to burn before Him sweet incense…” 2 Chronicles 3:17
“Then he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand and the other on the left; he called the name of the one on the right hand Jachin, and the name of the one on the left Boaz.” What do you associate with a pillar?

Jachin means He will establish, and Boaz means in His strength. What do you long to see Him establish in His strength?

What divine, precise symbolism that Boaz, given to us as an example of God’s redeeming love, is a pillar of strength inside the temple. We are His temple. You are a temple for His name,
1 Corinthians 3:16
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” Take a deep breath and ask Him to show you what that means:

2 Corinthians 6:16
” And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
Might there be any idols you need to clear out of your temple?

Whatever you overcome now, will be eternally rewarded.
Revelation 3:12
“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.”

While we wait together for our Redeemer, “in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:21-22), let prepare like a bride for her wedding day. How can you do that?
